Family Unit: Past, present and future

A commenter on another website said that the nuclear family is outdated. Is this a popular thought I wonder. The family unit has undoubtedly changed in some cases, but is this a change for the better or worse? I see grandmothers raising grandchildren, single -parent homes as well as other forms of families that are now more common than before. Has society grown past the "traditional nuclear family"?

I am a regular 30 year old woman ready to learn, share and laugh with the world. I often find myself in a daze at home, or work (shh don't tell my supervisor) thumbing through all of the comments made by people about any and everything.

So...I thought, 'why shouldn't I share my thoughts and see what the world has to say in response to them." And here we are.
